Landis+Gyr signs Marketing Agreement with Exceleron Software
A growing number of utilities, including Landis+Gyr customers, are currently using Exceleron’s web-based PAMS software to offer prepaid electric service to consumers. Exceleron’s software seamlessly integrates with Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream™ advanced metering solution to provide a turnkey prepayment system that includes features for consumer notification, consumer payment options, and back-end office integration.
“The demand for prepayment systems is growing, largely because of the potential for cost and energy savings for both the utility and consumer,” said Michelle Mindala-Freeman, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Landis+Gyr. “When paired with Gridstream, the PAMS system provides a convenient and cost effective way for utilities to leverage existing infrastructure to offer prepayment services.”
The PAMS package is a web-based system that utilizes advanced metering data to track energy usage and monitor account balances. The system is highly configurable, and work orders or system commands to the meter are generated automatically. Consumers can access account information in a variety of ways and account alerts can be provided through phone, email, Internet or in-home displays.
Jeff Severs, Chief Operating Officer of Exceleron Software, said utility and consumer experiences with prepayment systems have been overwhelmingly positive due to the cost savings, energy savings and budgeting control that prepayment provides.
“This agreement expands our existing relationship with Landis+Gyr and should greatly enhance our marketing and education capabilities,” Severs said. “With the software interfaces between our two systems already in place, we expect to see a steady increase in prepayment programs at utilities using the Gridstream solution.”
